2. Cassius Winston wins Big Ten POY in landslide

It’s hard to believe there was actual debate about the Big Ten Player of the Year race as recently as a week ago, but anyone who is voting against Cassius Winston must hold a personal grudge against him or the Spartans.

Winston has been an absolute gem of a player this season and although his Spartans are in second place — technically third by a half-game — in the Big Ten behind Carsen Edwards and the Boilermakers, he has been the best player in the conference by a wide margin. No one shows up to play on a consistent basis more than Cassius.

In fact, let’s look at some numbers that should help make his case against Edwards and Wisconsin’s Ethan Happ:

Not really an argument at this pint and he Spartans will have yet another conference player of the year, following the footsteps of Kalin Lucas, Denzel Valentine and Draymond Green in recent years.

To top it all off, Winston will also finish top-five in National Player of the Year voting, setting up a big senior season for the talented point guard from Detroit.
