Michigan State Basketball: Report card for gutsy road win over Michigan
Tom Izzo admitted after the game that he had to chew Matt McQuaid out because of some mistakes and missed assignments and his senior captain responded. He finished with 13 points, including a clutch 3-pointer over a flopping Jordan Poole which gave Michigan State some serious second-half momentum.
McQuaid is stepping his game up to another level and it seems as if he’s gaining confidence in that long-range jumper in recent weeks. In fact, he’s 9-for-18 over the past three games from 3-point range and that’s what’s keeping this Michigan State offense afloat.
Oh yeah, and that pump fake was working plenty against the Wolverines who apparently didn’t read the scouting report on McQuaid.
Defensively, he played solid for the most part and did have some missed assignments, but he continues to be one of the most consistent players in the Big Ten.
