Michigan State Basketball: Report card for comeback win over Rutgers
Do you find yourself running out of things to say about Cassius Winston? It’s because the junior point guard has done just about everything to prove himself as the Big Ten Player of the Year and he’s garnered just about every compliment in the books.
With Michigan State’s half-court offense stagnant and desperate for answers on Wednesday night, Winston stepped up to deliver. The Spartans were down 11 to Rutgers at home in the second half and it looked like a disaster was about to take place in the form of a massive upset, but Winston didn’t allow that to happen.
The Big Ten’s best player to this point in the season lived up to the hype and finished with 28 points and eight assists and some incredible highlights to go along with that line — such as the fadeaway 3-pointer in the corner with the shot clock winding down to put the Spartans up eight.
Winston was the savior for the green and white on Wednesday and he got his mojo back after a poor shooting performance against Ohio State on Sunday.
