A. . PG. Junior. CASSIUS WINSTON

What more can we say about Cassius Winston other than the fact that he should be the front-runner for Big Ten Player of the Year and he could be in the National Player of the Year race — though neither of those matter unless the team is winning.

Winston will be the first to tell you that he doesn’t care about the personal accolades and would rather just get the win. He led the Spartans to yet another crucial road win, beating Iowa handily thanks to a couple of second-half 3-pointers by the junior point guard that sparked the team and got a 24-2 run going.

Although his driving layups weren’t falling for most of the night, Winston made do with mid-range jumpers and went 3-for-5 on long-range shots. He also dished seven assists and put some early turnovers behind him, finishing with only three.

The team started clicking on both ends when Winston hut his shots and sparked the run. He was the main reason for the comeback and led all scorers with 23 points.

No one in the Big Ten is playing as well as this kid right now.
