Michigan State basketball is setting up for another important road battle against No. 19 Iowa on Thursday night. What can we expect?

Both teams are playing their best basketball of the season, but Michigan State or Iowa will see their winning streaks come to an end on Thursday night in Iowa City.

Michigan State has won 12 in a row and the Hawkeyes are winners of five straight and 10-of-11 since getting throttled 90-68 in East Lansing back in December. These two teams are much different since then so don’t expect a repeat of that performance, especially since Iowa has given the Spartans a tough time at home over the past six-plus years.

Just take a look at the results:

This one should be another classic, but Michigan State is hoping to improve to 9-0 in Big Ten play with a comfortable win and Iowa is upset-hungry.

It’s time to get bold ahead of Thursday night’s ranked battle in Iowa City.

5. Iowa’s offense stays afloat thanks to 3-point barrage

Iowa makes a little under 40 percent of its 3-pointers, but playing at home in front of a raucous crowd will feed the energy for the Hawkeyes on the offensive end and the Spartans seem to find themselves on the wrong end of hot-shooting home teams more often than not.

Joe Wieskamp and Isaiah Moss are two guys who shoot the lights out from distance, making 45 percent from 3-point range each and Jordan Bohannon can hit long-range jumpers, too. All three will have an impact on the outcome of this one, putting some pressure on the Spartans from deep.

It’s not easy winning on the road in Big Ten play and it’s even tougher when the opponent is making big three after big three to halt any momentum coming from the visiting team.

Michigan State may overcome the barrage, but the Hawkeyes will make 40-plus percent from 3-point land on Thursday night.
