Former Michigan State star and fan favorite Miles Bridges is reportedly getting set to compete in the 2019 NBA Dunk Contest next month.

There’s nothing better than a Miles Bridges slam. The former Michigan State star and all-everything Flint-native showcased serious bounce during his two years in East Lansing and has brought that excitement to the NBA level.

According to reports, he’s planning on competing in the 2019 NBA Dunk Contest during All-Star Weekend next month.

It’s been an up-and-down rookie year for the former Spartan as he’s averaging 6.7 points and 3.7 rebounds, shooting 45 percent from the floor, but he hasn’t quite lived up to his potential yet. He has all the tools to become a solid NBA player, but he’s still getting the feel for the game and showcasing some big-time dunks throughout the year.

Why is he choosing to be in the dunk contest? It’s because of jams like this one he produced on Thursday:

Bridges has been showing off his arsenal of dunks all season long and he’s been a walking highlight reel. He has struggled with his long-range jumper and needs to be more consistent on the offensive end, but he’s one of the most exciting players in the league because you just don’t know when you’re going to see him soar over defenders for a poster.

Michigan State fans are familiar with former Spartans in the dunk contest as Jason Richardson won a couple back in his day in the early 2000s.

Can Bridges become the second Spartan to win the dunk contest and send his career in the right direction?
