Michigan State football is gearing up to take on Mario Cristobal and the Oregon Ducks. What can we expect from the 2018 Redbox Bowl?

It’s been one of those years for Mark Dantonio and Michigan State. The head coach expected a 10-plus win season and a potential Big Ten title, but instead his 19 returning starters brought him a 7-5 regular season with a Redbox Bowl berth against Oregon.

Disappointing doesn’t even begin to describe the season, but injuries, lack of consistency on offense and just not being able to find those inches have cost the Spartans.

With even an average offense, this team could be 10-2 or 11-1, talking about a Big Ten title and New Year’s Six bowl, but that’s how fickle college football is. Things can turn in a hurry and even close losses can feel like blowouts. Still, the Spartans have one last opportunity to end the season on a high note.

What can we expect from this year’s Redbox Bowl matchup?

5. Josiah Scott picks Justin Herbert off twice

How will Michigan State possibly stop Justin Herbert without Justin Layne?

The Spartans have this guy named Josiah Scott. I guess you could say he’s pretty good. The sophomore sat out for most of the season, playing in just four games and he had the option to use a redshirt this season if he sat out the bowl game, but he decided against it as he couldn’t watch his team, which is in need of a cornerback, struggle without him.

Scott will be a major factor in this one as Herbert won’t get the memo to not throw to his side of the field, tossing two interceptions to the sophomore in the process.

Momentum will be on Scott’s side heading into a big junior campaign and it could surely be his last season in the green and white as he’ll be a candidate to head to the NFL a year early like his former teammate.
