Michigan State’s 25 wishes list concludes with today’s wish. What is the No. 1 wish for all Spartan fans as 2019 approaches?

Here is wish No. 1 on our Michigan State fan wish list.

Wish No. 1

Michigan State basketball team will make it to the Final Four at the end of this year and will win the national championship for the 2019-20 season.

Once again, similar to wish No. 2, does a lot have to happen in order for this wish to come true? It most certainly does. However, it is No. 1 on all Spartan fans’ wish lists because not only will it signal Tom Izzo’s second national title and the basketball program’s third overall, it will erase the drought of Final Four appearances and it will bring back the atmosphere that surrounded program as it did when it made three straight appearances from 1999-01.

Let’s once again look back at some past wishes on the Spartan wish list to see what needs to occur for Michigan State to earn a berth into the Final Four at the conclusion of this season and a national championship when all is said and done next season.

Spartan fans would need nearly all of the below wishes need to come true or some variation of it for the Spartans to make this wish come true. Here are the wishes that if they were to come true, would momentously assistance in Michigan State’s quest for this wish coming true.

*Wish 18 is important because if it were to come true, it would give Michigan State a reliable and most importantly dependable backcourt that can not only score but shoot the three-ball consistently and be able to average a solid amount of assists per game and limit the amount of turnovers.

*Wish 17 is important because if it were to come true, the Spartans would be able to land top 10 ranked recruits for the 2019 class in players Anthony Edwards and Isaiah Stewart, to help soften the effects of potential departures to the NBA in players like Nick Ward and, best-case scenario, complement the potential of an amazing core of players for the 2019-20 season if the Spartans see no players declare for the draft at the end of this season.

*Wish 12 is important because if it were to come true, Nick Ward dominating in the post would be great for a potential run to the Final Four especially if the three ball is not falling and it helps in recruiting current 2019 big men prospects.

*Wish 10 is very important because if it were to come true, having three first-team All-Big Ten players would really signify that this year’s team has what it needs to make a run to the Final Four and build momentum for the quest of a national championship for next season.

*Wish 8 is imperative because if it were to come true, it would cement a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament which would greatly increase the Spartan chances of making it to a Final Four berth. Unfortunately, as a No. 2 or No. 3 seed in two of the past three NCAA Tournaments, Michigan State has not fared so well in those slots.

*Wish 4 is important because if it were to come true, Michigan State would set itself possibly as the favorites to win the national title next season. Recruiting year by year is more important in basketball than football because freshmen have a more immediate impact overall and can help propel a team like Michigan State to a national championship.

Tom Izzo said, “I’m expecting big things out of this class. They have paid their dues. I would like to send them off the right way.”  If the class of Nick Ward, Cassius Winston, and Joshua Langford stayed for their senior year, they could lead Michigan State to their first back-to-back Final Four appearance since the class of Raymar Morgan and Co. led the Spartans in 2009-10.

This wish is No. 1 on the list of Spartan fan wishes for a very important reason. I also tell a good friend of mine that when he gets extremely frustrated with Michigan State football that, the Spartans just don’t have the elite talent to win a national championship in football but they do have the talent to win it all in basketball. It is possible that if everything fall in place, that the next 12 months or so can be very special for Spartans fans.
