Michigan State’s 25 wishes list continues with only today’s and tomorrow’s wishes. What is the No. 2 wish for all Spartan fans?

Here is wish No. 2 on our Michigan State fan wish list as we count down to wish No. 1.

Wish No. 2

Michigan State football, for the second time in program history, makes it to the College Football Playoff in 2019.

Does a lot have to happen in order for this wish to come true? Yes it does. However, it is No. 2 on the Spartan fan’s wish list because of magnitude it would have and the powerful message that would be sent to Michigan State fans if it were to come true. Let’s look back at some past wishes on the Spartan wish list to see what needs to occur in 2019 for Michigan State to earn one of four spots in the College Football Playoff.

You can make a rough estimate that seven of these 10 wishes need to come true or some variation of it for the Spartans to make the playoff. Here are the wishes that if they were to come true, would greatly help in Michigan State’s quest for this wish coming true:

*Wish 20 is important because if it were to come true, it would give Michigan State momentum and most importantly much need confidence for the offense moving forward for 2019.

*Wish 19 is important because if it were to come true, the Spartans would for the first time since 2014, have an emergence of a running back that can run the ball consistently and be able to gain 1,000 yards or more on the ground.

*Wish 16 came true technically but what is most important especially among the early enrollees is that Michigan State needs a true freshmen or two to contribute, and even possibly start some games in 2019 to help with the overall depth and playmaking ability needed especially on offense.

*Wish 14 is very important because if it were to come true, a healthy and productive offensive line would go a long way in helping develop a productive running game and giving Brian Lewerke time in the pocket to make the necessary passes to help in the passing game.

*Wish 13 is important because if it were to come true, the Spartan defense would be able to put some points on the board and would be beneficially especially if the offense struggles, like they did early on and late in the season.

*Wish 11 is important because if it were to come true, Michigan State would arguably have the best wide receiver and cornerback in all of college football.

*Wish 9 is important because if it were to come true, that would mean that with possibly the best defensive end and defensive tackle in college football as well as the best linebacker in all of the college landscape, Michigan State would have the best front-seven in all of college football in 2019.

*Wish 7 is very important because if it were to come true, winning the Big Ten East is the first major hurdle for getting into the College Football Playoff.

*Wish 6 is extremely critical because if it were to come true, staying healthy as a team is almost necessary if Michigan State has a chance of earning a spot in the College Football Playoff.

*Wish 5 is essentially necessary because if it were to come true, more than half of the offensive problems from this past season would not carry over to the 2019 season. No matter if the Spartans were to get a new offensive coordinator or not, we have seen successful quarterbacks like Connor Cook and Kirk Cousins be able to carry virtually an entire offense at times.

Sally Nicholls once said, “There’s no point having wishes if you don’t at least try to do them.”

Michigan State has to have the College Football Playoff as one of its goals this season. The Spartans have to try and give it all they have because after 2019, many Spartan fans, if they are honest with themselves, know that next season is their opportunity to go to the playoff.

The 2020 team may be forced have their main goal to win 8 games and go to a decent bowl game due to so many key players leaving after next season. This wish is No. 2 on the list of Spartan fan wishes for a reason, so Happy Holidays as we count down to the final Spartan fan wish.
