Michigan State’s 25 wishes list continues today and will run over the next three weeks. What is the No. 20 wish for all Spartan fans?

Here is wish No. 2 on our Michigan State fan wish list as we count down to wish No. 1.

Wish No. 20

Michigan State’s football team needs to score at least two touchdowns in the Redbox Bowl versus Oregon.

The Michigan State has only scored one offensive touchdown in their last three games. The one touchdown they did score was in the fourth quarter against Rutgers. The offense has not looked good, not even OK in terms of their offensive output and their lack of scoring in the red zone has been alarming.

It’s no secret that neither quarterback Brian Lewerke nor Rocky Lombardi have looked impressive this season. With the exception of the Utah State and Purdue game, the passing game has been a major disappointment. The running game has looked uninspiring with Connor Heyward, La’Darius Jefferson and L.J. Scott combined not being able to rush for 1,000 yards for the regular season. The only games that the rushing attack really benefited the Spartans were the Maryland and Central Michigan game.

It should also be noted that Heyward, Jefferson, and Scott only accounted for seven of the 14 rushing touchdowns on the season.

It has not helped that injuries have plagued the offensive line and the receiving core and that Lewerke and Scott have battled injuries. Scott who initially had thought of red-shirting this season, but has changed his mind and has declared for the NFL Draft and will play in the bowl game. The bowl game against Oregon is very important to the Spartan offense to build momentum heading into next season.

Michigan State’s fans need to see a productive offense to score some touchdowns against an Oregon defense that had 5-7 Arizona team score 44 points on them and have given up at least 14 points every game this season. This is a perfect opportunity for the Michigan State offense to once again find the end zone more than once in a game and not have to settle for field goal attempts.

This may be the first game since the season opener that the Spartans will have a relatively healthy Lewerke, Scott, offensive line and receiving unit ready to play.

This wish coming true I would put at 40 percent but many would not be surprised if Michigan State were to only score six points on a pair of field goals but it is indeed the holiday season and here is to wishing for a fantastic New Year’s Eve.
