Michigan State Basketball: 5 bold predictions for December 2018
1. Vernon Carey Jr. shocks nation, commits to MSU
Am I optimistic when it comes to Vernon Carey Jr. picking Michigan State? I wouldn’t say entirely, but it’s more of a cautious optimism. This is probably the best shot Michigan State and Tom Izzo have had to lure a top national recruit and they apparently like their chances here.
Carey Jr. is one of those once-in-a-decade type of recruits who if the Spartans could land, could change the immediate outlook of the program and potentially replace Nick Ward right away.
Michigan State would extend its 2019 recruiting class to three commits if Carey Jr. picks the Spartans, and I’m going with the optimism here as he will choose the green and white on Thursday afternoon over Duke.
Beating Duke out for a recruit isn’t a common occurrence, but Izzo will get the job done and snag the nation’s No. 2 overall prospect.
Thursday, Dec. 6, will be a big day for the Spartans as Carey Jr. will join Malik Hall and Rocket Watts in an already-impressive recruiting class.
