4. Spartans finish with 30-plus assists — again

Against Florida Gulf Coast, the Spartans put on a passing clinic. Versus No. 1 Kansas, Michigan State had 19 assists to 18 turnovers, which isn’t exactly the ratio you want to see from a top-10 matchup.

However, that improvement from game one to game two was refreshing. Michigan State had 33 assists on 41 made field goals against the Eagles. Only eight buckets in 41 tries went without an assist, which is an incredible numbers on such a large sample size.

It wasn’t just Cassius Winston and Foster Loyer finding open guys, but it was Nick Ward, Xavier Tillman, Kenny Goins, Matt McQuaid and Aaron Henry who all finished with at least three assists.

Michigan State will hit that mark for the second straight game against ULM. The Warhawks’ defense has been solid this season and the only way Michigan State can exploit it is with excellent ball movement and Tom Izzo’s teams excel in that regard.

The Spartans will finish with 32 assists on 39 made field goals.
