4. Ohio State is trending in the wrong direction

If you’re Ohio State, you probably couldn’t feel worse about an 8-1 record with one loss in the Big Ten on the season if you tried. The Buckeyes may be the No. 10 team in the country, but just about everyone has been down on them following the last month, or so, of play.

After beating Penn State on the road in a one-point thriller, it’s been all downhill for Ohio State. The Buckeyes struggled a bit against Indiana at home before pulling away and winning by 23, had an ugly showing at home against Minnesota before winning by 16, got throttled at Purdue in a huge night game three weeks ago, 49-20, and then snuck by a hapless Nebraska team at home, 36-31.

This stretch of games has the Buckeyes down on themselves, Urban Meyer talking about some health issues and Ohio State looking as beatable as any team in the Big Ten.

The defense has been bad, the offense has been making some mistakes, especially without a run game, and the Buckeyes’ confidence is lacking.

Ohio State is trending in the wrong direction while the Spartans are on the way up.
