Michigan State opens its 2018-19 season on Tuesday night on a national stage. The Spartans will play the No. 1 team in the country as Kansas is the next Champions Classic foe.

The Spartans partake in the annual event yet again with a chance to upset the No. 1 team in the county. However, Michigan State isn’t far behind at No. 10 in the preseason AP Top 25 but the Spartans still have plenty to prove.
Kansas, led by Bill Self, has a talented team returning, though most of his star players are transfers and incoming freshmen. Can the Spartans take advantage of a not-so-gelled team early in the season?
Michigan State could set the tone early on in the season with a win over the top team in the rankings. However, it’ll need to get some help from the bench such as Xavier Tillman, Matt McQuaid and Kyle Ahrens — and maybe Marcus Bingham Jr., Foster Loyer and Aaron Henry.
