2. Brian Lewerke just isn’t right

Let me preface this by saying that I believe Brian Lewerke should remain the starting quarterback for this team and if the coaching staff needs to sit him for a couple of weeks to get his head, and shoulder, right, so be it.

Watching him on Saturday against the Wolverines was rough. The 60 percent passer was anything but accurate against the Wolverines, completing 5-of-25 passes for 66 yards and he wasn’t comfortable running with the ball, either.

Lewerke couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn, even with time in the pocket, and he seemed to rush just about everything as to avoid big hits from the Michigan defense.

You could just tell something wasn’t right with the junior quarterback and even though some fans were clamoring for him to be benched in favor of Rocky Lombardi, I’d say he’s still the best option under center, but obviously not with an injured shoulder and shattered confidence.

Playing Lewerke with an injured shoulder did him, and the Spartans, a disservice on Saturday and that should have been shut down by the coaching staff.
