Michigan State football has owned the Michigan rivalry over the past decade thanks to Mark Dantonio. Let’s rank his eight wins in the series.

Michigan and Michigan State don’t like each other. Mark Dantonio hasn’t been afraid to talk about his disdain for the program down the road. Sure, there’s mutual respect, but Dantonio just doesn’t like Michigan and hasn’t since taking over in 2007.

The Spartan head coach has taken this rivalry personally, winning eight times in 11 meetings and he’s looking to improve his record against the Wolverines to 9-3 with a win in 2018.

A win may not be as definite this season, but it’s still possible. It would rank highly on the list of Dantonio’s wins in the series, but which wins have been the best?

Let’s rank the Spartans’ wins over the Wolverines since Dantonio took the reins.

8. Big road win (2010)

Sitting in eighth place, the Spartans’ 2010 win isn’t a “bad” victory in the least, but it has to be considered the least memorable of the bunch.

No, we aren’t knocking this victory especially since it was a 17-point road win over the Wolverines, but it had to be the least memorable one of the bunch — if that’s even possible.

Michigan raced out to a 10-7 lead in the first half and it looked like the Wolverines were just going to pull away at home, but Michigan State bounced back with a Le’Veon Bell touchdown and a field goal right before half to pul ahead 17-10 and it didn’t look back.

The Spartans extended their lead to 31-10 before Michigan scored their final touchdown and it became the third straight win for the green and white in the series.

That Edwin Baker crowd-silencing gesture is pretty iconic and memorable, though.
