Michigan State football has had a rough start to the season but a matchup with Penn State could change things. It’s time to get bold before Week 7 action.

Can you really bet against a Mark Dantonio-led Michigan State team? There are plenty of fans down on the head coach after a 3-2 start to the 2018 campaign, but his team hasn’t exactly had the best luck.

Sure, the injury bug has bitten hard, but the team seems gassed during every fourth quarter because of a lack of depth resulting from the health issues. The Spartans are a couple of plays away from being 5-0 with a top-15 ranking heading into Happy Valley, but close doesn’t cut it in college football.

The Spartans could turn things around in Happy Valley and pull off the upset of No. 8 Penn State for the second straight season, but it’ll need the offense to wake up.

Let’s get bold ahead of the big Week 7 battle.

5. Cam Chambers breaks 100 yards

Coming off the best game of his young career, Cam Chambers is flying high with plenty of confidence. The redshirt sophomore waited patiently for his opportunity and showcased his talents against Northwestern, catching a career-high five passes for 82 yards.

What makes those numbers even more impressive is the fact that Chambers had just five catches for 66 yards in his entire career leading up to the Week 6 bout with the Wildcats.

Carrying that momentum over, Chambers will surprise some people again, sliding over into that No. 2 receiver role — especially if Darrell Stewart Jr. is still less than 100 percent — and finishing with over 100 yards for the first time as a Spartan.

This kid’s stock could be rising significantly after this one.
