Michigan State football travels to Indiana on Saturday evening and the Spartans have a tall task on their hands. Here’s why MSU will come out on top.

Wake-up calls are important in sports. To start the season, Michigan State felt as if it was on top of the world and one of the untouchables in the Big Ten. Fast forward three weeks and the Spartans used a bye week to reflect on what went wrong and ‘get back to the basics’ — a common theme during the 2017 season.

Traveling to Bloomington for a tough test against the Indiana Hoosiers in Week 4 could present an upset special for the Spartans, but they should be ready.

The Spartans will have their hands full on Saturday, but they will rise to the occasion.

5. Peyton Ramsey is no Jordan Love, Manny Wilkins

This one goes without saying, but Peyton Ramsey is not on the same level as the other dual-threats Michigan State has faced this season: Manny Wilkins and Jordan Love.

The sophomore quarterback hasn’t broken the 200-yard mark through the air yet this season and he has a total of 106 rushing yards and a touchdown, averaging a little over 30 per game. He’s not going to put the team on his back like Love did or make big throws down the field late to an elite receiver like Wilkins had, but he can still put together a solid game.

Ramsey will be held in check by this Spartan defense, though.

Fortunately for the Michigan State secondary that’s been struggling will get a break as there’s no player the caliber of Simmie Cobbs to cover and Ramsey isn’t known for lighting up the scoreboard thanks to his arm.

Oh yeah, and he’s known to throw the occasional pick.
