Michigan State Football: 5 bold predictions for road game at Indiana

Michigan State football travels to Bloomington for an important Week 4 contest, but will the Spartans be able to escape an upset loss to Indiana?

It’s been an up-and-down start to the season for Michigan State as one of the favorites to win the Big Ten title. The Spartans haven’t quite looked like Big Ten title favorites just yet, though, losing to Arizona State in Week 2 just after squeaking by Utah State at home in the opener.

Getting a bye week was probably the best thing for this team as the players, and coaches, needed to clear their heads, start fresh and get back to playing Michigan State football.

The Big Ten opens up play for Michigan State in Week 4 as the Spartans travel to Indiana to face the 3-0 Hoosiers. Memorial Stadium wasn’t so kind to the green and white last time around as the Hoosiers upset the Spartans in overtime to knock them from the rankings for good, but Mark Dantonio won’t let that happen again.

On paper, Michigan State should win this one, but will it have the right mindset? It’s time to be bold.

5. Felton Davis III will break 100 yards receiving

A player the caliber of Felton Davis III should not be held in check often. The senior receiver from Virginia has to be one of the most sure-handed receivers in the entire nation and it’d be a shock to see him held out of the 100-game range through the first three games, but if he can’t get it done in Bloomington, that’s exactly what’ll happen.

Not so fast, my friend (Lee Corso voice, obviously).

Davis III is going to go off against this lightly-tested secondary which has allowed just over 135 yards per game through the air to start the season. They have yet to see receivers like Michigan State has and a quarterback the caliber of Brian Lewerke who can get his guys the ball at an impressive clip.

The senior receiver will finally break the 100-yard mark, catching seven passes for 111 yards and a touchdown.
