If you stayed awake for the Michigan State football loss to Arizona State, you probably witnessed some major overreactions from fans.

Suffering through the late-night grind of the college football season, Michigan State fans got to witness what Pac-12 After Dark is all about. Moreover, they also got to feel the downside of a tough last-second loss on the road at 2 a.m.

Overreactions were running rampant after the Sun Devils kicked a game-winning field goal as time expired, giving Herm Edwards an early signature win as the head coach.

Sure, it was a tough loss for the Spartans in a game they surely should have won, but it wasn’t the end of the season though you’d never realize that by reading Twitter shortly after the defeat. The doom and gloom tweets were everywhere on social media and it’s time to reflect on some of the worst takes.

Let’s take a look at the five biggest overreactions from Saturday’s loss to Arizona State.

5. No hope for the offensive line

This is arguably the most accurate overreaction, but it’s too early to rule the offensive line dead for 2018. The Spartans haven’t gotten much of a push from these guys up front, but not having Cole Chewins at left tackle has thrown everything off.

Everyone is playing a different position and guys who weren’t expecting to start are playing big minutes.

Jordan Reid, Tyler Higby and Luke Campbell have struggled mightily and the entire line is failing to open holes in the run game, but let’s reserve judgement until after the bye week when kinks are worked out and when Chewins is back in the starting lineup.

Hope may be lost for now, but the Spartans can fix some mistakes this week and gear up to dominate Indiana in the trenches.
