Where will Michigan State football land in AP Top 25 after Utah State win?
Michigan State football had a close call against Utah State to open the 2018 season, but where will the Spartans end up in the Week 2 AP Top 25?
In what was expected to be a walk in the park, Michigan State actually struggled mightily with Utah State in East Lansing. The Aggies won six games a year ago, but they found their quarterback of the future in Jordan Love and the Spartans could stop the short passes he was drilling them with.

Michigan State was able to pull out the win, avoiding a major upset at home, 38-31. It wasn’t pretty and not many fans are pleased with the slim victory, but where could the No. 11 Spartans land in the Week 2 AP Top 25?
You’ll need to look at the rest of the preseason AP Top 25 to find out just where the Spartans may end up. Notre Dame, ranked No. 12, beat No. 14 Michigan and the Irish will likely jump the green and white, but Michigan State may surpass Penn State which was ranked No. 10 and took Appalachian State to overtime at home.
Moreover, No. 13 Stanford was impressive against San Diego State even with Bryce Love accounting for just 29 rushing yards.
Prediction: Michigan State falls to No. 12 behind Notre Dame (10) and Penn State (11)
Unfortunately, AP voters won’t be too impressed with a 38-31 win over Utah State. Yes, Brian Lewerke looked solid and the receivers look elite, but all AP voters will see is a team that needed its final drive to put a 6-7 team from last year away at home.
Expect the Spartans to suffer a slight drop, but nothing will truly matter until conference play starts against Indiana on Sept. 22. Arizona State, too, will present a tough matchup for MSU next weekend.
