After getting cut by the Bears and bouncing around, former Michigan State football star Jeremy Langford is back in the NFL, this time with Miami.

If there’s one former Spartan who looked like a stud after his rookie season in the NFL and a potential future starter in the league, it’s Jeremy Langford.

Unfortunately, Langford flamed out after his rookie year when he rushed for 537 yards and six touchdowns and caught 22 passes for 279 yards and another score. His second year with the Bears was far less productive as he had just 200 yards rushing and four touchdowns on 3.2 yards per touch.

The Bears let him go following the 2016 season and he’s been out of work since, bouncing around from the Ravens to now getting picked up by the Miami Dolphins ahead of the 2018 campaign.

Miami has signed him to the preseason roster, giving him a shot to contend with the plethora of backs they have on the depth chart.

Right now, Miami has veteran Frank Gore as the projected starter along with Kenyan Drake, Senorise Perry, Kalen Ballage, Brandon Radcliff and Gregory Howell at the running back position. To say it’s a crowded backfield would be an understatement.

Clearly the Dolphins feel like Langford may be able to contribute as a second or third-string option given the fact they added him to an already crowded group. They may not feel great about what they have behind Gore and Drake.

It’s not easy to earn a second opportunity in the NFL, but Langford has a chance to compete for a spot on a roster that could provide him some valuable playing time and touches.
