Former Michigan State basketball star Travis Trice has signed a deal to join the Milwaukee Bucks in training camp this preseason.

Travis Trice became a fan favorite for Michigan State back in 2014-15 when he led the underdog Spartans to the Final Four. He was a star down the stretch for Michigan State and turned heads in the NCAA Tournament with his sharpshooting and fearless attitude.

Despite averaging 15.3 points and 5.1 assists while shooting 37 percent from 3-point range as a senior, his stature kept him from being a true NBA prospect.

Trice signed a deal to play in Australia and that’s where he’s been for the past two years.

After a decent Summer League performance with the Milwaukee Bucks, however, Trice finds himself in a situation where he could potentially make the roster this fall. It’s a long-shot, but this is the best chance he’s gotten to date after signing a training camp deal with the organization last week.

That doesn’t mean much more than the fact Trice will be present this fall to work out with the team and try to earn a spot before the regular season begins.

Still, this is the best opportunity he’s gotten to date and this means he will get an extended look from the organization and potentially find himself in the G-League if he doesn’t make the roster. That’s not the worst possible scenario for an undrafted player with less-than-ideal size already three years removed from college.
