Each season, Michigan State football watches as players grow and mold into stars. Which five Spartans could surprise everyone in 2018?

Michigan State returns most of its starters from a 10-3 squad in 2017, meaning the coaching staff knows exactly where it’s going to get production. However, there’s always a group of surprise contributors which burst onto the scene and take over.

Last year it was Felton Davis III who surprised people on the offensive end, along with Cody White and Darrell Stewart Jr. On defense, Kenny Willekes shocked everyone by becoming an All-Big Ten talent and David Dowell did the same.

This season has a different feel with so many starters back, but there will still be a handful of surprise contributors.

Which five Spartans could break out as surprise contributors in 2018?

DeAri Todd is someone who has barely scratched the surface, in terms of reaching his potential, but we may see flashes of brilliance in 2018.

The redshirt freshman defensive end was a scout team star, according to the coaches last season and it seemed like it was only a matter of time before his redshirt was burned and he was inserted into a live-game situation.

Though it never happened, Todd is gearing up for his first real season with the mindset that he will get a shot and there’s no way he won’t succeed.

The former three-star end was committed to Boston College at one point, but Michigan State fell in love with his tape and extended a late offer, getting him to flip.

Mark Dantonio may have literally stolen a future star from the Eagles.
