There is a new head coach in Nebraska and he appears to have the Cornhuskers on the move. Can MSU go to Lincoln and sneak out a win in 2018?

This is a way-too-early preview of the Michigan State versus Nebraska game. There could be depth chart changes, injuries, and departures from the teams involved that could affect the outcome of the game.

It’ll be interesting to observe if new head coach Scott Frost can turn the Cornhuskers around.

In his first recruiting class, he loaded up on speed at the skill positions. It only took him one year to get UCF into a bowl and then two years later they went undefeated and declared itself co-national champion. Now, coming to a school with resources and facilities like Nebraska, the learning curve may not be that steep.

This is a tough game for MSU, because even if the Spartans are fortunate enough to beat Ohio State at home, they would travel to Lincoln where they have not had much success.

The Ohio State game will be emotional for the Spartans who were blown out last season, but in 2018 it’ll be a competitive contest that could come down to the wire. Whether MSU wins or loses this Nebraska game will be a difficult one for them to pull out.

Nebraska could have a quarterback controversy all season long with Tristan Gebbia and Adrian Martinez while the run game was underwhelming in 2017.

The defense is a far cry from the old Black Shirt days, but that could change under Frost’s control, but it’ll take some time. Playing in Memorial Stadium, potentially under the lights, could make all the difference in this late-season matchup.

Prediction: Michigan State 35, Nebraska 38. This will be a wild high-scoring contest. However, the Spartans will be emotionally spent heading into this week. This would put the Spartans on track for either their first or second loss of the season. I still go back-and-forth on the winner of the OSU game.
