3. Atlanta Hawks

The Atlanta Hawks have the third overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. This is a pick that many experts have been all over the map with. Some have Luka Doncic going here after the Kings take Marvin Bagley III at No. 2. Others have Michael Porter Jr. going here, with the Hawks overlooking his injury concerns for his superstar potential. Some mock drafts even have Trae Young going here.

The Hawks are a team that have so many needs that literally anyone on the board could go at this spot if the Hawks like them enough. Fit isn’t really a search parameter for them, since not really anyone on the Hawks is a sure-fire future piece. John Collins is the closest thing they have to one. Dennis Schröder is a respectable starting NBA point guard, but his future is uncertain as it is.

Jaren Jackson Jr. could certainly be in play here for the Hawks at No. 3. With the Hawks drafting based on purely best-player-available, it becomes tricky to predict their pick. The top five will most likely consist of any five players out of an ensemble of DeAndre Ayton, Doncic, Bagley III, Jackson Jr., Porter Jr., Young and Mo Bamba. Out of these five, Atlanta will have any of them to choose from other than Ayton and one other player. What is the likelihood that  Jaren Jackson Jr. is the one they choose? Medium, not high.
