Christian Jackson was one of the earlier commits for the 2018 class and he will be a difference maker for the green and white.

Christian Jackson held a host of offers, most notably from Michigan, Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech. He brings size, at 6-foot-1, and speed to the ‘No Fly Zone’ in East Lansing in 2018.

The Georgia-product is comparable to Spartan legend Darqueze Dennard, and we all know how well he panned out for Michigan State.

Jackson does a great job being on an island and fighting receivers for the pigskin. He has excellent ball-hawking skills.

There’s a joke about defensive backs that I hear on games like Madden or NCAA College Football that if the player could catch then they’d be a wide receiver and not a defensive back. That is not true of Jackson. He has soft hands and strong finger tips. Also, he’s a great tackler in space.

Moreover, he has a different type of swagger that Michigan State defensive backs have exuded over the years. He plays with a chip on his shoulder and if he makes a big play or jarring hit, he’ll let you know about it. It’s that swagger and confidence which could help him see the field early in his Michigan State career — he’s not often overwhelmed.

Michigan State is getting a player who will be pushing for playing time as soon as he gets onto campus.

There’s plenty of talent in the MSU defensive backfield. Spartan fans can expect to watch a resurgence of the ‘No Fly Zone’ days. Mark Dantonio has another gem in the defensive backfield in Jackson.
