The streak lives on. Michigan State’s impressive NFL draft streak lives to see another year as senior center Brian Allen was chosen No. 111 overall by the Los Angeles Rams in the fourth round.

Michigan State owns one of the longest draft streaks in the country. What this means is that the Spartans have had at least one player chosen in each NFL draft during the common era. Extending even further, the Spartans have had at least one chosen in 78 straight years, behind only Michigan and USC.
Allen, the younger brother of Jack Allen who plays for the Saints, wasn’t expected to come off the board until the sixth or seventh round (NFL.com even had him as a potential undrafted free agent), but he caught the eye of the Rams. They need offensive line depth to help protect their precious cargo in Jared Goff and he’s versatile enough to play some center as well as guard, depending on need.
The former three-star recruit from Illinois stands 6-foot-1 and weighs in at nearly 300 pounds. He has plenty of strength to keep up with the change from college to the pro level and he can hold his own in most situations. He’s not the quickest guy, so being on the interior will work wonders for him.
