Michigan State football is nearing the kickoff of its 2018 spring game and here are five potential breakout stars to keep an eye on.

The 2018 spring game is already here which almost doesn’t seem right with it still feeling like basketball season. However, this year’s Green & White Game could take Spartan fans’ minds off the disastrous end to the basketball season.

Michigan State football has some lofty expectations heading into the 2018 season after a 10-3 finish in 2017 which included wins over Michigan and Penn State along with a Holiday Bowl victory over Washington State.

The Spartans are still relatively young and there’s endless potential on this roster, but which five guys could prove to be breakout candidates this spring?

This is the final season of LJ Scott which means two things. One, he could finally reach 1,000 yards which he’s capable of and two, the Spartans will need to figure out a replacement, or backup, for when he leaves.

With Madre London gone, there’s no standout at the No. 2 spot right now although Connor Heyward and Weston Bridges are in a good spot.

Bridges is coming off injury issues, but there were high hopes for him when he committed to Michigan State in 2017. The former four-star running back may have lost some explosiveness with his knee injury, but he could very well work it back this spring.

We will see plenty of Scott this spring, but don’t sleep on Bridges.
