Michigan State Football: Kirk Cousins soon to be NFL’s all-time highest-paid player
Later this week, former Michigan State football star Kirk Cousins could become the NFL’s highest-paid player ever, thanks to the Vikings.
It didn’t take long for Jimmy Garoppolo’s hefty contract with the San Francisco 49ers to be surpassed. Who would become the NFL’s highest-paid player next? None other than former Michigan State quarterback, Kirk Cousins.

According to reports, Cousins is on the verge of agreeing to a three-year deal with the Minnesota Vikings worth about $84 million guaranteed.
Nothing is set in stone just yet as he was planning to visit the Jets and Cardinals as well, but Minnesota gets the first visit and it might just win him over.
Playing for Minnesota would be a major win for the former Spartan as he would have a playoff team already built around him and the Vikings’ defense is far superior to the Redskins. He was forced into plenty of shootouts as a member of Washington.
This reported contract would make Kirk the highest-paid player in NFL history, at least for now, according to Mike Florio of NBC Sports.
If Cousins does agree to this deal, it would be the most lucrative in league history, especially in regards to guaranteed money, and he would join former Spartan Trae Waynes. Josiah Price and R.J. Shelton were also on the practice squad for the Vikings as undrafted free agents.

Cousins will be 30 when the season begins and he’s already passed for 16,206 yards and 99 touchdowns in his career with a 66 percent completion rate and three consecutive 4,000-yard seasons. Not too shabby for a former fourth-round pick.
