Before we start throwing stones at Miles Bridges after an initial report, wait for more info. How could this affect Michigan State basketball?

Put down your pitchforks and torches and step away from the Breslin Center. On Friday morning, a report from Yahoo! Sports detailed impermissible benefits received by some of college basketball’s biggest names over the past few years.

One of those names happens to be Michigan State’s Miles Bridges. Although the Yahoo! story released an expense report linking his name to potential illegal benefits, it doesn’t implicate Bridges himself.

In fact, the report states that Christian Dawkins, an associate of former agent Andy Miller, gave Bridges’ mom $400 and paid for dinner. This doesn’t show Miles had any involvement in this.

So what does this mean for Bridges moving forward? Honestly, this could be just the tip of the iceberg, not necessarily for Bridges, but for the entire FBI investigation. This expense report is just one of many findings by the FBI and we could learn more about the corruption of certain programs, athletes and the sport of college basketball in general.

It’s difficult to pinpoint what exactly the punishment for $470 would be, but it was a minuscule amount compared to others named in the report — such as Josh Jackson’s mom who reportedly was marked down for over $2,000.

Will there be a punishment for this? Unless more comes out regarding Bridges’ mom accepting more cash, this could be a 1-3 game suspension by the NCAA, and that’s assuming they take action before doing their own investigation.

Is taking $400 from an agent OK? No, but Miles didn’t play a role in that and if that’s all that was dispersed to the Bridges family, this is hardly newsworthy.
