Michigan State Basketball: 5 takeaways from Indiana blowout in Week 11
2. Miles Bridges can be more of a jerk, after all
Earlier this month, Tom Izzo expressed his desire for “blue-collar superstar” Miles Bridges to be “more of a jerk” and take over the offense when it’s called for. Unfortunately for Michigan State, that’s not quite in Bridges’ nature. He’s a team player and he came back to help his team rather than leaving and helping himself.
Hearing all the criticism from the media, fans and likely his own coaches, Bridges decided to prove everyone wrong against Indiana. Although the matchups all night were extremely favorable to Bridges, he proved one thing: he can, in fact, be more of a jerk.
Bridges finished with a game-high 22 points on 9-of-13 shooting and he added three rebounds and two blocks. On top of that, he had some posterizing dunks which is something that fans have been wanting to see for weeks now. He looked like the Bridges everyone was expecting at the beginning of the year.
How did he prove he could be more of a jerk? He looked for his shot more often than not and had no problem putting the ball on the floor and attempting a drive to the hoop. He could afford to clean up his turnover problem, but jerk Miles is the best Miles.
