1. Tom Izzo has dealt with much worse

Throughout the Hall of Fame career of Tom Izzo, he has encountered many situations in which Michigan State was considered “doomed” or the season was deemed “over” and he still managed to turn things around for a Big Ten title push or Final Four run.

Compare this year’s team to last year. The Spartans were almost guaranteed to miss out on the NCAA Tournament after a rough start to the season, but they figured things out and even won a game in March before getting bounced by Kansas. Two years earlier with Travis Trice running the point, no one expected Michigan State to do much, but the team made a run at the Final Four.

This year’s team has all the talent in the world and is going through a minor slump. Izzo has stated that he’s not too worried about his team and his mindset hasn’t changed after the past week. He’s seen much worse than this and there’s no locker room issue that’s causing the slump.
