Michigan State Basketball: Staff score predictions vs. Rutgers in Week 10
Wednesday night’s Michigan State game will be an opportunity for the Spartans to bounce back and get back on track against Rutgers.
After losing in the most unexpected way possible Sunday at Ohio State, Michigan State is looking to bounce back with a big win over visiting Rutgers. The Wednesday night matchup may not be a must-see contest, but it’s important for the Spartans nonetheless.

Why is it so important? Michigan State needs to get back on track with a big win while correcting silly mistakes in the process. The Spartans need to show that the Ohio State loss was nothing more than a serious outlier and they are still Big Ten favorites.
The Spartan Avenue staff has weighed in on Wednesday’s matchup and final score predictions.
Connor Muldowney: If you’re looking for another upset special, this isn’t the game for you. Rutgers has been reeling of late and Michigan State is coming off its worst loss of the season. This could get ugly as the Spartans will be playing angry and two players — Cassius Winston and Nick Ward — will finish with double-doubles. We will also see Miles Bridges attack the rim and be more aggressive offensively, finishing with 25 points. Michigan State wins easily at home.
Final Score: Rutgers 61, Michigan State 82
Stephen Robb: Michigan State suffered a horrid slip-up at the hands of Ohio State. While the Spartans had a tough game against Rutgers earlier, I fully expect them to make adjustments and to be ready for the Scarlet Knights. MSU had its worst game of the season and coach Tom Izzo will have his squad prepared.
Final Score: Rutgers 63, Michigan State 87
Adam Zdroik: The Spartans are back at home and we know what that means. This won’t look like the first time these teams played when Rutgers put in a good fight. The Scarlet Knights are a much worse team on the road, already losing by 22 at Minnesota and 31 at Purdue. Coming off a loss, it could get bad early with the Spartans expected to come out firing.
Final Score: Rutgers 59, Michigan State 86

Michael Briggs: Michigan State returns to the Breslin Center Thursday following a shocking lopsided loss at Ohio State on Sunday with the hope it can get back on track. While we have yet to see a good performance from this MSU team in a true road atmosphere, there’s no questioning how well the Spartans play at home. Rutgers is coming off a solid win over Wisconsin, but it stands no chance against a ticked off Michigan State team on the road.
Final Score: Rutgers 63, Michigan State 88
