Michigan State hosts Savannah State to close out non-conference action and here’s what the Spartan Avenue staff has to say about the final score.

Michigan State has been on a roll of late, winning 12 straight games since losing to Duke in the first couple weeks of the season. On top of that, the Spartans have won three straight games by 40-plus points in which they have reached the 100-point plateau in each.

Savannah State comes to town as the final non-conference matchup for the Spartans and they also have one of the worst defenses Michigan State will face all year. This one could get ugly, especially if the Spartans can adequately defend the 3-point line.

What does our staff think about the matchup between Michigan State and Savannah State?

Connor Muldowney: Miles Bridges is coming off a near triple-double against Cleveland State and Nick Ward had 22 points and 14 rebounds and we can expect the same type of performances against a porous defense against Savannah State. Josh Langford will remain red-hot and scored 20-plus for the second straight game and the Spartans will reach the 100-point plateau for the fourth straight game, smashing records left and right.

Final Score: Savannah State 63, Michigan State 104

Stephen Robb: The 3-11 Savannah State Tigers whimper into East Lansing. The Tigers can hit the three well and the Spartans will need to take them somewhat seriously. MSU, though, is going to blow them out. The only question is by how much. This will be a great game for the Spartans to get their bench plenty of work in prep for the Big Ten play.

Final Score: Savannah State 53, Michigan State 89

Adam Zdroik: For the last of the freebie wins, Michigan State will likely top 100 points for the fourth-straight game. Savannah State ranks as the worst opponent (at KenPom) MSU has to play this season, which means at least another 40-point win. Already one of the worst shooting teams in the country and having given up 100 points to William & Mary and Georgia Southern, Savannah State has close to no chance.

Final Score: Savannah State 71, Michigan State 122

Michael Briggs: Michigan State had one of its most complete performances of the season against Cleveland State, shooting 65.1 percent from the field and limiting the Vikings to 32.8 percent shooting. The Spartans also turned the ball over just three times in the first half, which was an encouraging sign. Anything less than a dominant performance against Savannah State in the Spartans’ final tune-up before they resume Big Ten play would be both surprising and disappointing. You can bet Michigan State will finish the calendar year on a strong note, though.

Final Score: Savannah State 56, Michigan State 103
