Michigan State Football: 5 most underproductive players in Mark Dantonio Era

Michigan State football was able to sign the 20 players who committed for the 2018 class. Let’s take a look back at some players whose careers in East Lansing did not go so well.
I preface this article with this statement: college football is a grind and with academic responsibilities I applaud the players for their efforts. Some players come in with all the hype and fame from being the highly-rated high school prospect.
As a fan, it’s easy to fall in love with the stars, even though Mark Dantonio has done more with players that have few stars. It’s fair to write that the expectations of fans is difficult for some to live up to. The players on this list have the talent yet were not able to show it.
There are a number of reasons players are unable to excel and what fans witness on a Saturday pales in comparison to the work that was put in the weight room, conditioning, training, watching film, etc. Some players get hurt others fall behind and still others miss the opportunities placed before them.
These are kids in grown men’s bodies playing a game. They may realize the opportunity in playing for a Big Ten program and the spotlight could be too much — personally, it would be for me. Therefore, as I write this, I want to be clear that admire and am thankful to these young men for their efforts.
