Saturday evening’s Michigan State vs Maryland game might not be a feature of the week, but there’s still plenty to play for.

If you’re looking for fireworks, Saturday’s Michigan State vs Maryland game probably isn’t for you. The Spartans and Terrapins aren’t known for putting up major points and the latter has been reeling in recent weeks.

Sure, Michigan State has the potential to go off on the offensive side of the ball at any moment, but it will take quite an effort to bounce back from a 48-3 loss to Ohio State last week. Still, the Spartans remain No. 17 in the College Football Playoff poll and it’s because the committee believes in Mark Dantonio.

Also, it believes that the 45-point loss was an anomaly, which may be true, but Ohio State is heads and shoulders above the rest of the Big Ten. Brian Lewerke has his worst career game, but could bounce back against a mediocre Maryland defense.

The Terrapins must win out to earn a bowl berth, but will the Spartans ruin their postseason hopes on Saturday evening in East Lansing?
