Michigan State football has a chance to bounce back after a tough loss to Ohio State. Our staff offers up predictions for the Maryland contest.

After a tough loss to Ohio State in Week 11, Michigan State football will look to get back on track against Maryland. The Terrapins are just 4-6 and are looking to put a season filled with injuries behind them and make a bowl game.

On Saturday, the Terrapins will travel to East Lansing looking to beat the Spartans for the second straight season. The last time these two teams met was in 2015 and Michigan State had no trouble dismantling the hapless Terrapins, 24-7, without Connor Cook, for the most part. Will we see the same this season?

Here are the predictions from our staff for this weekend’s game against Maryland.

Connor Muldowney: The Spartans haven’t forgotten about last year’s loss to Maryland on the road in which they looked completely lost. They’re going to pay the Terrapins back in a big way, covering the spread. LJ Scott will rush for over 100 yards, Brian Lewerke will get back on track and the defense will finally come to play after taking a few weeks off.

Final Score: Maryland 13, Michigan State 35

Stephen Robb: This is a classic trap game for MSU. The Maryland Terrapins are desperate to keep their bowl hopes alive as they sit at 4-6. The Spartans have said all week that the OSU loss hurt and some could not wait to get back onto the field. The Terrapins may get back their quarterback Max Bortenschlager. Either way, this is a team that relies on it’s run game. Stopping the run was MSU’s speciality until last week. Maryland will challenge them with the read option early. Maryland will challenge MSU and it will be a close game going back and forth. I believe the Spartans will not come out flat but will want to avenge last week.

Final Score: Maryland 21, Michigan State 24

Michael Briggs: Michigan State needs a sound, complete victory to regain confidence following last week’s beatdown by Ohio State. Thankfully for the Spartans, an injury-riddled Maryland team is next on the schedule. I expect the Spartans to redeem themselves in a big way on both sides of the ball.

Final Score: Maryland 10, Michigan State 38

Adam Zdroik: Things get a bit easier this week even if Max Bortenschlager plays for Maryland. The Spartans should have more offensive success against the Terps, especially on the ground through LJ Scott and that’ll be enough. Maryland will try and run the ball with Ty Johnson and Lorenzo Harrison, but if that doesn’t work, will have trouble getting first downs.

Final Score: Maryland 14, Michigan State 31
