Thursday night’s Michigan State vs Ferris State game won’t be a must-see matchup, but it’s the first look at the Spartans this year.

Michigan State officially opens its 2017-18 season on Thursday night as the Spartans host Ferris State for the first exhibition game of the season. The Spartans will have a few exhibitions, including another on Sunday against Georgia, before kicking off the regular season on Nov. 10 against North Florida.

The expectations are sky-high for Michigan State this season as the Spartans return all four of their stud freshmen from last season, headlined by Miles Bridges. The sophomore is the popular pick of many experts to be the National Player of the Year.

Joining Bridges are Josh Langford, Cassius Winston and Nick Ward from that elite 2016 class and they are all maturing as players. This could be almost an All-Big Ten caliber lineup.

Coming in as part of the 2017 class is five-star forward Jaren Jackson Jr. along with four-star Michigan Mr. Basketball runner-up Xavier Tillman. Both will look to contribute right away.

This team is loaded and Ferris State will get the first crack at them on Thursday night.
