After a rough start to the season for the Michigan State football star, LJ Scott has finally turned the corner in a victory over Minnesota.

Could you imagine a worse finish to a football game? Probably not, but a win is a win, and Michigan State came out on top despite a nearly epic fourth-quarter collapse against Minnesota on Saturday night.

The Spartans’ lead dwindled thanks to backup quarterback Demry Croft’s fourth-quarter effectiveness through the air and with his legs. He found Tyler Johnson for three clutch touchdowns after the Spartans had built a 30-13 lead after a strong touchdown drive by LJ Scott and the offense.

It seemed like Scott did whatever he wanted to on Saturday evening against the Gophers’ usually-solid run defense. He finished with a career-best 194 yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries. He also added a 26-yard reception to total over 200 all-purpose yards.

Did he turn a corner in this victory over the Golden Gophers?

It sure seemed that was as he was able to bob and weave through traffic for the first time since the end of last season. He finally had confidence in his ability to find holes and he did it with regularity — thanks to major help from an improving offensive line.

Scott needed a confidence-booster after missing the Michigan game and being pedestrian through the first four weeks, including three crucial fumbles. He did have another on Saturday against the Gophers which led to a Minnesota touchdown, but he made up for it by running angry for a score on the next drive. LJ is back, folks.
