Michigan State football travels to Minnesota for a big Week 7 matchup and here are five reasons the Spartans will beat the Gophers.

It’s been a tough season for Minnesota and Michigan State is currently riding a two-game winning streak and an emotional high. Will the Spartans avoid a letdown and take down the Gophers for their first victory outside the state of Michigan?

The Spartans are looking to start 3-0 in the Big Ten for the first time in two seasons and pull within just one win of bowl eligibility. If Mark Dantonio is able to lead his team to victory on Saturday night, his turnaround from last season will be praised by just about everyone. Some people didn’t even think he’d win five games this year.

Minnesota is a winnable game and one which the Spartans should take advantage of despite being a road contest in prime time.

Michigan State will come away with the victory on Saturday night, and here are five reasons for that.

5. Confidence level at all-time high

After beating a team like Michigan on the road, a young squad like the Spartans can gain some major confidence. Two weeks earlier, the Spartans lost to Notre Dame at home in embarrassing fashion and all confidence was shot, but a gritty win at home against Iowa increased it and then the victory over the Wolverines will prove to have worked wonders.

Young teams just need to see the wins pile up and if they can beat a rival like Michigan on the road in harsh weather, it can go to Minnesota and take Gophers.

Minnesota is beatable and down on its luck after two straight conference loss against Purdue and Maryland, so the confidence Spartans should be able to ride that high and beat the Gophers at TCF Bank Stadium.
