Michigan State Football: Chris Frey proves he’s better person than football player

Michigan State football has an inspirational captain for 2017 by the name of Chris Frey — and he’s a better person than football player.

Despite earning the reputation of a hard-nosed Michigan State football player who shows no mercy on his opponents, senior captain Chris Frey is a caring individual off the field.

The fourth-year linebacker has had to earn his way up the depth charts each season, culminating in being voted captain in his final season in East Lansing. The outside linebacker has played hard on special teams, in a backup role and now as a starter, becoming the leader of the defense.

Sometimes opposing fans and players get on him for being overly aggressive, but he’s a passionate player and sometimes doesn’t know how to turn that switch off on the gridiron. Off the field, he’s as good of a person there is.

Don’t believe me? The Big Ten Network posted a video about his off-field service to the special education community, and it’s fantastic. He willingly spends his free time helping out with special needs children and adults and he gets a bigger kick out of it than they do, it seems.

No matter who you root for, seeing this type of action from athletes off the field is refreshing. Chris is a bright kid who can be passionate and aggressive on the field, but a class act off it.
