Michigan State basketball enters the 2017-18 season as favorites to win the Big Ten, but what does the Spartans’ updated schedule look like?

Entering the 2017-18 season, Michigan State basketball could be the No. 1 team in the country. The Spartans now have a major target on their backs with the new campaign looming and that makes their Big Ten schedule even more important.

This season is a bit unique, though. Unlike in past years when Michigan State held their conference tournament in the second week of March, it’s being moved up a week. In fact, it will be held on Feb. 28 through March 4 at Madison Square Garden.

The Big East is known for holding its annual conference tournament at Madison Square Garden and there have been many memorable games there. New York is a special place for the Big Ten with the addition of Rutgers and Maryland and it’s trying to break into that market.

Another interesting change is that games will be played on each day of the week, no longer avoiding Mondays and Fridays and each team will play two Big Ten games on the first weekend of December.

The Big Ten revealed on Wednesday that the Spartans would start Big Ten play with a home game against Nebraska on Dec. 3. Other key games include Michigan (Jan. 13), at Indiana (Feb. 3) and at Minnesota (Feb. 13).

Here’s the rest of the Big Ten schedule:

Other big games include Maryland (Jan. 4), at Illinois (Jan. 22), at Maryland (Jan. 28), at Iowa (Feb. 6), Purdue (Feb. 10) and Wisconsin (Feb. 25).
