Michigan State football’s defensive ends coach Mark Snyder raved about Brandon Randle who recently moved from linebacker.

The thinning out at defensive end had to have been concerning for Michigan State football coach Mark Dantonio this offseason, but he made a major move. Former four-star linebacker Brandon Randle was considered one of the top players in the Spartans’ 2016 class, but he was moved to defensive end.

It may not seem like a big move, but going from linebacker to an edge-rushing end is going to benefit both Randle and the Spartans, it seems.

The end position was lacking depth and Randle is a young guy who could come in and play right away, maybe even win the starting job. On Monday, defensive ends coach Mark Snyder spoke to the media and talked up the former linebacker from Battle Creek, Mich.

This should come as no surprise to those who have seen his high school highlight tapes or heard Dantonio call him a ‘five-star prospect’ in his eyes just last year. He has all the potential in the world and if he can become a quick, hard-to-handle edge rusher, many of Michigan State’s issues on the defensive line could be solved.

While he hasn’t played a single live snap at the collegiate level, the fact that he’s standing out in practice, presumably against the No. 1s, is a good sign.
