Joe Bachie is Michigan State football’s new man in the middle, orchestrating the Spartan defense. He appears to be primed for a breakout season.

Joe Bachie was an underrated recruit coming out of Cleveland, Ohio, in Michigan State’s 2016 class. However, he has already ascended to the top of the prestigious MSU middle linebacking position. He now joins the greats who have played the position before him like Percy Snow, Max Bullough and Chuck Bullough. The middle linebacker is the quarterback for the defense and now all eyes are on Bachie.

The sophomore was a two-star recruit by some services but eventually got bumped up to a three. While his recruitment went under the radar, the Spartans felt they got a steal by landing him. He was a true freshman last season and a little action. However, he made the most of his time on the field and has impressed other players and coaches since coming to East Lansing.

Mark Dantonio has described on National Signing Day in 2016 as “very physical and performed very well at camp.” Also he added that Bachie ran 4.5-something 40-yard dash at the MSU camp. He is fast and physical.

Getting his first action in the Maryland game last season, Bachie showed flashes of greatness. He didn’t have a huge game, but was steady throughout.
