In fact, according to clickondetroit.com, Appling will be sentenced on Aug. 3 after taking a plea deal which reduced his sentence to five years probation and one year behind bars at Wayne County Jail for pleading guilty to one count of carrying a concealed weapon and resisting and obstructing police.
The jail time stemmed from an incident last summer in which police pulled him over for a minor traffic violation and they smelled marijuana in his car. He rolled up his window when they asked for his license and sped off.
Since leaving Michigan State, Appling has been in nothing but trouble. Everything seemed to spiral out of control following his senior year, ruining a promising future, potentially in the NBA.
Last summer’s arrest was his third in six months and it proved that he had a serious problem. This jail time is the lesson he needed, and everyone is hoping he gets the message in order to get his life back on the right track.
