Radio host Mike Valenti sounded off on the local media on their coverage of Michigan State football following sexual assault charges.

It’s not often that people agree with Mike Valenti in droves, but on Tuesday afternoon, everyone’s radio was tuned in to 97.1 FM in Detroit to listen to what the long-time radio host had to say. The Michigan State football program had been put on blast for recent sexual assaults, and deservedly so.

However, that’s not what irked Valenti. It was the local media coverage of the situation. While Mark Dantonio followed every rule and procedure to a T, the media still found time to scrutinize the head coach.

A Detroit News column by fellow host — for the show directly following Valenti’s — Bob Wojnowski claimed that Dantonio deserves most of the blame. He even went as far back as the Rose Bowl when Max Bullough was suspended to make his point.

Valenti, a Michigan State grad, was furious that his friend and colleague would publish such a one-sided take and not own up to the fact that he wouldn’t go all the way with his argument, rather tried to play each side.

Just watch and listen:

Both sides, Michigan and Michigan State fans, tended to agree with Valenti in this case. Wojo was trying to state that Michigan State has experienced a poor culture change after one bad season and Valenti wasn’t having it.

Moreover, he made a good point when he said that never has he seen the local media root for something so bad to happen to a program and be let down when they found out the coach did the right thing. Basically, the media was rooting for another Baylor situation, in Valenti’s eyes. Do you agree with Valenti or Wojo?
