According to board of trustees member Mitch Lyons, Auston Robertson is the Michigan State football player who turned his teammates in.

The pieces to the sexual assault case involving three former Michigan State football players is starting to come into shape. On Wednesday, a university official revealed some shocking news regarding the case.

While Mark Dantonio handled everything the exact way he was supposed to, there was a player who reportedly turned in Donnie Corley, Demetric Vance and Josh King shortly after the sexual assault incident.

According to Matt Charboneau of The Detroit News, Michigan State Board of Trustees member Mitch Lyons appeared on the Huge Show — a radio show in Michigan — to talk about the recent sexual assault case.

During the interview, Lyons reportedly leaked information about who actually turned the three Spartans in for their roles in the sexual assault back in January. The name might surprise you: Auston Robertson.

"“When Auston Robertson came into his office for a regular weekly meeting, Coach D asked the regular questions he typically asked him and then he became a little emotional and didn’t go into detail, just alluded to the fact something happened,” Lyons said. “And Coach D had a sense it involved some sort of sexual allegation and he immediately said don’t say anymore, called the OIE (Office of Institutional Equity) office and got the appropriate person involved.”"

This comes as a shock because Robertson was dismissed from the team a couple of months back for a separate sexual assault incident that happened a week after the spring game.

Unfortunately, this doesn’t change what happened to the victim and you can only hope that this sort of thing won’t happen again at any institution. Robertson couldn’t stay out of trouble and wound up getting kicked for the same reason he turned his teammates in for.
