A Colorado brewery is honoring the late Mike Sadler, a former Michigan State punter who tragically passed away, with a custom beer.

If Mike Sadler were still alive, you know he’d have something snarky and humorous to say about a beer being made in his honor. The former Michigan State football player was tragically killed in a car accident last summer and one brewery is honoring his memory — with a special beer.

According to their website, Jagged Mountain Brewery in Denver, Co., is creating a beer in honor of Sadler called Hey Diddle Diddle.

The name is in reference to a play called “Hey Diddle Diddle, send Sadler up the middle” against Iowa in 2013. He ended up out-rushing the Hawkeyes in that game with the fake punt up the middle, helping the Spartans secure a big victory in a Rose Bowl campaign.

As you can also see, the label of the beer has roses on it, symbolizing the goals accomplished that season and how much winning the Rose Bowl meant to him.

The wheat ale will be released on June 2 in a special event from 5-9 p.m. The brewery is also donating $1 from every pint of Hey Diddle Diddle sold, not just that at the release event, but until the beer runs out. I’m sure this will be one of the more popular brews.

If you’re lucky enough to have friends in Colorado, have them send you some Hey Diddle Diddle so you can honor Sadler in your own way this summer.
