Former Michigan State football offensive tackle Kodi Kieler has signed with the Arizona Cardinals as an undrafted free agent.

Although Michigan State football had a lackluster 2016 season in the trenches, there were a couple of kids who stepped up to be rocks for the Spartans. One of those solid performers was Kodi Kieler, a senior offensive tackle.

While he played tackle, starting 27 games at right and left tackle, he could also play a little center, showing some versatility. He filled in for injured players and gave the Spartans a different look up front.

Kieler may not have had the ideal season, but he made enough of an impression on the Arizona Cardinals that they signed him shortly after the 2017 NFL Draft as an undrafted free agent.

Hoping to become another successful Spartan offensive lineman in the NFL, Kieler can learn from the guys he played with just one year ago. Jack Conklin was drafted in the top 10 in last year’s draft and was considered one of the top offensive tackles in the league in 2016. Jack Allen was an All-American who signed as an UDFA with the Saints and Donavon Clark was drafted by the Chargers.

It’s not easy to catch on as an undrafted offensive lineman in the NFL, but if he keeps improving his techniques, he can make an impression in mini camp. He will be joined in Arizona by Spartan teammate, and lineman, Brandon Clemons.
